Day 01 Arrive and discover Bengaluru, depart for Mysore via Yeshwanthpur A silken journey through India's iconic south awaits you aboard the luxurious Golden Chariot Train! Your journey will begin at Bengaluru, the capital city of the state of Karnataka, a bustling metropolis that wears the cap of an IT as well as a garden city comfortably. On arrival, the Pearl Luxe representative will warmly greet you and escort you to a luxury hotel for your first taste of India's many flavors. From here you will depart to tour the city. Trees embrace the city's curves, and you will step out to enjoy the beautiful botanical gardens - Lal Bagh. Visit a very popular tourist stop in the city - one of the oldest temples of Bengaluru - the glorious Bull Temple, dedicated to Nandi Bull, the mount of Lord Shiva. A must visit in Bengaluru is the luxurious Summer Palace of the Tiger of Mysore, Tipu Sultan, one of the greatest rulers of the Kingdom of Mysore. It is home to an elegant museum that contains rare finds from that era. Drive past the stately Vidhan Soudha, home to the State Legislature and the Secretariat of Karnataka, a fine example of traditional Dravidian architecture that resonates a contemporary feel. You will depart from Bengaluru making your way to Mysore, enjoying a lavish meal onboard the train. Sleep comfortably on the train. Day 02 Thu Augrangabad - Udaipur Keep your eyes peeled open to espy the shimmering peacock; the stealthy panther and a graceful, shy deer. The Nagarhole National Park was the erstwhile hunting reserve of the Mysore royalty, and now, is a lush teeming flora and fauna are perfect shots for 35mm frames! Expert naturalists will help you spot animals in the lush deciduous and tropical forests. Tigers, elephants, bison, deer, fox, noisy woodpeckers, sly hawks and the cheeky parakeets are found in abundance. Don't forget your camera and binoculars when you set off for the safari deep into the misty jungles. We depart for the city royal – Mysore! Day 03 Fri. Udaipur – Sawai Madhopur Trundle into the city that's home to one of the world's oldest zoo! Mysore is a city of tradition, royalty and grandeur . People flock from the world over to attend the magnificent dussehra celebrations. But first you will visit the impressive Srirangapatna, the Island Fortress of Tipu Sultan, en route to Mysore, where the mighty warrior laid down his life defending his kingdom, a momentous event steeped in history, marking the start of the British colonization of South India.Move on to Mysore now. The majestic Mysore Palace, the official residence of the former royal family of Mysore, the Wodeyars is a Indo-Saracenic styled, 3-storied palace. It's embellished with marbled domes, towering colonnades, and graceful arches. Do see the stunning, jewel studded golden throne. A visit to Mysore is incomplete without walking through the beautifully laid out Brindavan Gardens. Stroll through the lush pathways of this oasis laid across the River Cauvery, spread over a lush 150 acres. Walk past its manicured lawns, and just yonder is the roaring Krishnaraja Sagar Dam. The lilting dancing fountains that sway to the sweet sounds of music will stay with you long after the Golden Chariot rolls out of the station. Day 04 Sat Sawai Madhopur - Jaipur Welcome to Hassan, that shares its namesake with Goddess 'Haasanamba,' the presiding deity. Today you will pay a visit to Shravanabelagola, the famed pilgrimage city for all Jain followers the world over. From a distance you can see the colossal Jain Saint Gomateshwara. A breathless walk up 614 steps brings you to the footsteps of this giant 18 meters tall monolith standing stately atop the Indragiri hill. After a gap of 12 years, devotees from across the country come to bear witness to the spectacular ceremony of Mahamastakabhisheka, where the statue is bathed with milk, curd and saffron, with a shower of gold coins. Enjoy a delightful lunch aboard, and drive past the the lush landscape to arrive at Belur. On the banks of the Yagachi River, gentlyhalt aside a star-shaped temple, the only Hoysala temple that is still actively worshipped. Walk past the winged figure of Garuda, Lord Vishnu's carrier, that stands as a sentinel in front of the sanctum sanctorum into a world of stunning friezes: charging elephants, elaborate mythological figures, impressive military scenes, exquisite dancers and musicians, and unusual motifs. Spend the day soaking in the faith of this temple town. Spend quality time in the well fitted gym or relax in the spa as the train weaves its way to Hospet. Day 05 Sun. Jaipur - Bharatpur The most magical stop in this journey is Hampi – the magnificent erstwhile capital of Vijayanagara kingdom. Wander through its inspiring ruins, each springing up a surprise on every corner. Did you know about the King's weighing scale? His lordship was weighed against grain, gold or currency, which was distributed to the needy. Walk through the Queen's bath. Embellished with arched corridors, graceful projecting balconies and exquisite lotus-shaped fountains, you can well imagine its perfumed corridors from days of yore. From a distance you can see the two storied Lotus Mahal. And just yonder lie the colossal elephant stables. Enjoy lunch aboard the train, and then visit the splendid Vithala Temple. As excavation continues, many exquisite treasures belonging to a forgotten era emerge to delight visitors. Day 06 Mon Bharatpur - Agra - Delhi The whistle blows today for Badami! After a hearty breakfast on board, the train halts at Gadag. Badami was once a thriving city, the former second capital of the mighty Chalukya dynasty. Visit the famed cave temples hewed out of solid rock, embraced by softly curving hills, perched above a placid water reservoir. The next stop is Pattadakal. The ten major temples are testament to the architectural skills of early Chalukyan architecture. Lying on the banks of the gently meandering River Malaprabha, at this sacred site Chalukyan Kings were crowned as rulers of the kingdom. Each pillar and sculpture resonates the revered epics – the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The intricately carved pillars of the Mallikarjuna Temple depict the birth and life of Lord Krishna. The largest temples, the Virupaksha Temple, is etched with episodes from the epics. After this cultural odyssey, return to the train for a hearty lunch onboard. Tomorrow you arrive in india's leisure capital, Goa. Day 07 Tue. Delhi Kiss the sun, sand and surf in India's party capital – Goa ! The former Portuguese outpost is also a treasure trove of stunning architecture and excellent cuisine. Begin the day with a visit to its most stunning monuments – the churches of Old Goa, a revered UNESCO World Heritage Monument . At the stunning Bom Jesus Basilica, perhaps Goa's most famous church, ry for a spot of tea along with cookies. Enjoy a lavish Goan lunch at a luxury resyou realize the infinite beauty of Jesuit architecture. Be privy to life in Goa of yore. Visit an old Portuguese House, Solar Souto Maio, a charming mansion that dates to the 15th centuort, enjoying the cool breeze caress you while you sink your toes in the sand.
